Testimonies

This section will inspire you, encourage you, call you to greater service, and remind you that we win in spiritual warfare because "greater is He that is in you than  he who is in the world."

Recently another short term missionary team returned from Japan. On this trip were two young people, Lauren, 15, and Justin, 13. You may wonder why young people would have such an interest in missions and what their reaction was to the trip.

Here is what they and several others had to say about their personal experiences. These came from a meeting with David Spurdle as they finished up

their time in Japan.

Justin:  I was asked to pray for a lady.  She was healed instantly!  I guess that I would have to say, Praying for healing and seeing God instantly and miraculously heal people, right before our eyes.  I was truly amazed and grateful to have been a part of this experience.

Lauren:  We passed out so many tracts!  I think I was most impressed with seeing the changes in the expressions of people that we presented HOPE to among such sadness and hopelessness in Japan.  On one of our train rides, the Lord impressed that I should get up and walk over to a young girl who seemed so sad.  I was very hesitant, for I do not speak Japanese adequately enough to feel comfortable in trying to witness one on one.  But, it was as if the Holy Spirit lifted me out of my seat and I found myself in front of this young girl, saying hello in English, and giving her a Bible tract and asking her to read it (it was in Japanese). I went back to my seat, but when I got up to leave the train, I glanced over toward the girl and at the same time she looked up from reading the tract.  Our eyes met and in that moment, she began to weep, and I sensed that Jesus had touched her heart through that momentary exchange.  This was the first time I had ever given out Bible tracts to total strangers, but I am so glad that I was able to give out many tracts on this trip. I believe God will use them to bring more to the cross and to His wonderful salvation.

Others have commented:

"In my 75 years of living, I've shared my faith more on this "Short-Term" mission trip to Japan than the rest of my life.  What an incredable opportunity!  I'd rank this experience second to that of having met my wife.  I plan to come every year."   Jack S.

"I learned about the Great Commission and participated in it.  It was awesome to come and witness God's healing among the spiritually hungry people of Japan.  I hope to come back and use my cooking skills to create a platform to share my faith in the future!"    Pat M.

"Life changing experience! I was privileged to push back the darkness with state of the art training.  I've been thoroughly trained in Evangelism but learning about spiritual warfare prayer, The Great Commission, and pioneer church planting has equipped me to see the bigger picture- World Evangelization.  I plan every year to bring teams to Japan."    Linda E.

"It was a difficult job to reach people.  Their faces showed no expression of Joy or Happiness. No wonder Japan has the highest suicide rate in the world.  I will never forget the tears that flowed from a woman's face as she began to read the Life-Giving message of Jesus Christ on the train.  It was an exciting and great experience.  I'd like to come again with my Dad."    Lauren J.

"I learned that talking about Jesus to people who speak a different language was not as difficult as I expected.  This trip was important to me because it really proved to me that I AM anxious to see the Kingdom of God come to Earth.  Matthew 24 :14.      Justin B
.
"Once I began meeting and talking with the Japanese Christians here my heart was changed.  My traditional way of thinking has been blown away.  I look forward to coming back to Japan."  Bill W.

"It was at first difficult to hand out Bible tracts, and share my testimony but gradually it became easier.  It seems that the people of Japan are in their own world and disconnected with each other. I am glad to have been able to use golf as a platform to reaching out to the Tokai University."   Ana B.

"We pray and think differently now that we have been on the front lines of spiritual warfare in Japan. We realize that our previous notions about evangelism and missions were naive and short-sighted. Being discipled in missions outreach in a foreign country is a rare opportunity, and then to instantly become an impact player was amazing. Mission work is not an optional task for Christians. It is the single most important aspect of personal ministry that one can do for Jesus Christ in building His Kingdom in the hearts of mankind.  Otherwise, why would Jesus have given such an important command to the church to go into all the world and preach the Gospel? I sincerely hope that many who read this will take the plunge and go on a short-term mission trip to Japan."   Chris B.

"I was impressed by the brotherly love and Christian discipleship that I learned while serving in Japan as a short-term missionary." Kevin O.

"It was the most awesome time of my life. I'll be back."  Mike R.

"I learned to share my faith with confidence like never before. I see the need to do it daily. I really want to return to Japan."  Priscilla Y.

"While I was in Japan teaching English as a second language, I found Christ through short-term missionaries. Now I want to return to Chigasaki for a longer period as a short-term missionary, hopefully this year."  Jennifer S. (and she did.)
