In January of this year one of our ladies, Betty Lorio, in our church discovered that she had cancer.  Read the prayer request here: http://sm-intl.org/index.php?option=com_prayercenter&task=view_request&id=5&pop=0&Itemid=53.  In early January she had slipped and fell and hurt her back. After a couple of weeks, the pain was still there and it would not let her sleep.  She thought it was a muscle strain and went to see the doctor.  To her surprise, once the doctors took xrays they seemed very concerned.  The explained that she had fractured some bone in her spine.  Furthermore, a young lady of her age, they explained, would have to have fallen from quite a height in order to do that much damage to her bones.  They suspected that there might be a reason for it.  After a couple of days in the hospital, they were suspecting cancer.  I was there the day that one of the female doctors received the results and consulted with Betty and her mom.  She explained that there were holes in her bones due to cancer.

It was such a shock! Betty has a four year-old son and all of us couldn't stand to think of her losing this battle with cancer.  The doctor explained that Betty also had breast cancer and cancer throughout her body.  She basically gave Betty no hope of living.

Our church got to praying.  Dave has visited our church and testified of the effectiveness of the 24hour prayer chain.  We started our prayer chain and had people fasting.  We had faith that God was going to heal Betty.  Many prayed and fasted more than they had ever done in their lives.

Three months ago, when Betty was supposed to start chemotherapy, her doctor couldn't make it to the appointment.  When she saw the people under treatment, she said "Chemo is not for me."  She cried out to God, asking Him not to have her go through chemo.  Things mysteriously changed with her doctor to the point that she had to find another doctor.  They were not going to treat her.  Betty found another doctor who told her, "I know what you have.  You have some overactive hormones that are causing the cancer."  He gave her an alternate treatment.

At that point Betty was feeling very good.  She hadn't had any scans but she felt great.  The doctors were really puzzled.  They explained she was supposed to be on strong pain killers due to the cancer.  She felt no pain!   Two months ago, she returned to work.  Her co-workers were alarmed to see her there.  They thought she should be on her death bed.  She explained that God had healed her.

Four weeks ago Betty had another scan.  There is no cancer in her bones!   There was a small lump left but it was shrinking!  God has healed her.  It was hopeless but now she's a living testimony of how God works when we seek HIM!  Our church is thrilled to see God work.

About a month ago we had another brother names Tommy who had cancer.  Again, the doctors gave him no hope.  He's gone through chemo and the doctors said that there is no cancer!  Thank God for his mercy and grace on Tommy's life!
